My First Professional Commercial.
shown on Egypt TV channels in September (Ramadan) 2009.
shooting 16\8\2009.

Marina Live is a touristic resort located in the North Coast of Egypt. The target of this commercial is to give the audience a short brief (without details) about Marina Live, on the other hand running questions in the targeted audience mind like (What's Marina Live?). What's funny about this commercial is that the resort is still under construction so all the used materials were graphics placed on a chrome environment, including the landscapes, indoors & outdoors scenes. I used a RED camera so as to get the best quality for when placing graphics environment. Another thing about this commercial, the shooting set wasn't all green chroma; it was a composition between the green chroma (which was replaced with the graphics environment) and some real decoration materials, so the commercial isn't 100% graphics (chorma) based. Shooting this commercial took a complete 24 hours. The commercial was aired in the following channels: Hayah Channels, Nile Television Network Channels, Egyptian TV, Panorama Drama, Sham TV.

Difficulties:

The most challenging in shooting this commercial was working with chorma key based environment, especially which I was using real world materials in the location such as the tables, the food and the main accessories that was in the foreground, and eventually I have to mix them together in the graphics studio. The 2 nd problem I experienced in this commercial is that I had only 1 shooting day for the whole thing

shooting 1/4/2009.

This commercial was one of my projects in my 3rd at applied arts. Using a green chroma environment and running on a very low budget. I tried in this commercial to mix the Michael Jackson's dancing & music style and Shakira's as well, with the product itself ... which is the Levi's world famous jeans. Two semi professional dancers were used in this commercial, the male was dancing Jackson's Smooth Criminal & the female was dancing Shakira's Whenever, wherever. Running on a very low budget was to be the worst problem faced me while shooting this commercial as the chorma environment quality was very low and I was trying to use as low prices materials as I could but putting in mind "low budget doesn't have to equal low quality ". Me and the stylist worked as hard as we could to transfer the ordinary Levi's jeans into Jackson & Shakira's style. The shooting took more than 8 hours.

Difficulties:

The main thing about this project was the very budget, I nearly done all of this with only 7000 Egyptian Pounds. The highest expenses were for the gears and the equipments. This problem led to a very hard editing cause of the low quality chroma environment and took much time to clean it up. Not forgetting, it was my 1st time to use a chroma key based shooting environment and I experienced some problems with the lighting but I managed that by having the editing & graphics crew in the location so as to make sure that everything is ok with it. I had other technical problems (due to the low budget issue) as while shooting, the camera's storage card didn't work and we had to replace it with another solution ... eventually we fixed the problem by using only 1 storage card instead of 2 and we got a fire wire so as to load the materials in the location and re - use the storage card. Another thing is that I only wanted the pants to appear (as the idea is about the Levi's Jeans) and I wanted to cut the upper part of the actors ... (as I was using a green chroma environment) I managed to find green T - Shirts and the actors wore them during the shooting. While shooting Jackson's theme, the main problem that I encountered was his shoe, the floor wasn't slippery enough to help the dancer to do Jackson's moves ... we managed to fix this problem by putting stencil sheets and glue it to the shoes.

Taxi is my first short movie, based on a real story from the famous Egyptian book of Khaled El Khemisi (Taxi). Talking about El Neqab issue in Egypt and what happens under the Egyptian society (what we don’t see each day). In brief, the movie is about a taxi driver who take a young girl wears Al Neqab and suddenly in the taxi she takes it off and begin to put on her makeup, and then the taxi driver wonder and he had a little conversation with her about why she’s wearing the Neqab and why she took it off. Shooting this movie took only one day.

Difficulties

The main problem in this short movie is that it was running on low budget. On the other hand this was my first piece of work in my whole life not forgetting I was the DOP & the director. Another thing, I had to shoot the

whole movie in the street which putted many challenges in front of me

The main challenge was the voice recording as we were shooting outdoors (with lowbudget)
